We arrived in Madrid at 8 AM local time (midnight ABQ time). We wound up getting an entire four seats for our selves, so the flight was relatively comfortable. When we got here, we had to wait about 3 or 4 hours before check in, so we left our big bags and just wandered around town with our expensive stuff in our daypacks. These old cities have streets going in every random direction, making them easy to get lost in, so we made sure not to go too far. Like our first day in Paris 10 years ago, we were pretty tired today, so we really didn’t see or do much before checking in and taking a nap. Tomorrow, we’ll see some more, and then it is off to Istanbul the day after.
PS- I think we made a good call not spending too much time in Western Europe- it is a bit expensive here.
More to come…
